Support Tutor

Summary of Position

  • Assist with the delivery of Developing Skills for Life qualifications and other accredited qualifications (on an individual paced and group basis to persons with disabilities).
  • Carry out administrative duties. To deputise for Tutor in his/her absence. To support participants in all aspects of their learning and progression.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide support to tutor with delivery of accredited qualifications (on an individual paced and group basis) in line with Awarding Body requirements, using appropriate learning materials and training methods, and in line with individual needs and ability.
  • Plan, develop and deliver enrichment activities and support participants whilst availing of such activities ensuring health and safety procedures/regulations are adhered to.
  • Provide administrative support when required.
  • Contact community and voluntary groups in the Portadown, Armagh and Newry areas and organise opportunities for the Independent Living groups to undertake group project work for them
  • Liaise with outside organisations and internal team responsible for transport to plan dates and logistics for group trips.
  • Assist in a scribing role where the needs of the cohort demand additional support
  • Assist Tutor with management of the cash card including collecting receipts and updating and maintaining Excel spreadsheet
  • Assist participants to concentrate on assigned tasks and to complete work.
  • Motivate and encouraging participants to engage with activities and peers.
  • To effectively deal with behavioural issues.
  • Monitor the progression of participants in conjunction with the tutor.
  • Ensure equipment is used effectively and efficiently.Deal with faults within area of responsibility or report accordingly and order replacement.
  • Liaise with the Tutor/Employability Mentor regarding progression of participants in relation to work experience and progression routes.

To The key job duties listed above give a broad outline of the functions of the role.  However, these duties must be approached in a flexible manner.  The job holder will be expected to adapt to changing circumstances and undertake other duties as allocated by your Line Manager.  The outline of the job duties may change from time to time. 

General Duties

  • Carry out job duties in compliance with Clanrye Group’s policies and procedures to include equal opportunities and health and safety legislation.
  • Adhere to existing work practices, procedures and undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.
  • Keep up to date with new resources in line with industry demand and currency ensuring participants are trained using the most up to date and current resources.
  • Act in compliance with all course examination, assessment and validation requirements.
  • Ensure quality of provision at all times.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Clanrye Group through the completion of all tasks allocated to you and by attending staff and development opportunities to ensure that professional competency is maintained.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • A Level 3 qualification in a related discipline or 2 years’ experience providing learning support to participants.
  • A minimum 1 years’ experience delivering qualifications and supporting participants with their learning on a needs-led programme.
  • Experience of working with persons with disabilities.
  • Experience of dealing with people with behavioural issues.

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of the MS office suite to include SharePoint.
  • Driving Licence and access to own car essential.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively, to plan and prioritise workloads and work to deadlines.

Contract:

Part Time – 24 hours per week

Holidays:

Accrued Pro Rata

Rate of pay:

£23,189 pro rata per annum
