Vocational, Personal Development & Employability Tutor

£26,931 – £32,702 pro rata per annum

Role Purpose 

To plan, prepare and deliver Vocational, PD & Employability to participants. To develop and deliver accredited qualifications up to Level 1. To provide continuous guidance and support to participants to optimise their learning 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Job Specific Duties 

  • Conduct initial assessments and formulate to identify the needs of participants and agree in conjunction with Programme Manager/ Deputy suitable training routes for participants and provide information for Personal Training Plans and update accordingly.  
  • Plan and deliver Vocational, PD, employability and other training courses in line with Awarding Body requirements to participants using appropriate learning materials and training methods, and in line with individual needs and ability.   
  • Plan relevant industry visits or visitors which add value to participants training.  
  • Prepare appropriate teaching materials and methods suitable for individual paced learning within a small group teaching environment and support individuals through their training helping them with any difficulties they may have. 
  • Support, monitor, review, and report back on participants’ progress on targets set.  
  • Report all requirements on the App ensuring it is a live record. 
  • Stimulate and promote effective, learner-centred independent learning strategies for participants of all levels of ability to enable them to progress.  
  • Create Schemes of Work and Lesson Plans which are contextualised as much as possible to ensure structured sessions are provided ensuring training is stimulating, educational and takes account of the diverse needs of the client group. 
  • Ensure all lessons are fully prepared, that learning outcomes are made clear and that progress against them is measured. 
  • Adhere and participate with internal quality procedures.  
  • Ensure that all paperwork/documentation is completed in line with ETI quality standards, Awarding Body standards and Department for the Economy requirements. 
  • Work alongside programme staff to develop a progression strategy for each participant i.e. to ensure that each participant progresses to suitable destination on completion of their training. 
  • Any other duty which may reasonably be required from time to time.  

 

Operational Duties  

  • Carry out assigned tasks in accordance with established procedures, schedules, and instructions. 
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, maintenance, or service delivery in assigned areas or functions. 
  • Use equipment, tools, and materials safely and appropriately, following training and guidance. 
  • Report faults, hazards, health and safety concerns, or equipment failures to line manager promptly. 
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) where required. 

 

Communication and Teamwork 

  • Work cooperatively with colleagues to ensure smooth operation of services. 
  • Interact courteously and professionally with staff, service users, visitors, and contractors. 
  • Report any concerns, incidents, or issues to line manager in a timely manner. 

 

Compliance and Standards 

  • Follow Clanrye Group policies and procedures at all times. 
  • Maintain appropriate standards of hygiene, presentation, and conduct. 
  • Complete any required records, checklists, or logs accurately and on time. 

 

Supervision and Autonomy 

Work is carried out under direct supervision and instruction. Daytoday tasks are assigned and reviewed by a supervisor or manager. Limited discretion in how tasks are completed; follows established methods and procedures. 

 

 DecisionMaking 

Makes routine decisions within clearly defined procedures (e.g., prioritising tasks within a shift, identifying and reporting hazards). Refers nonroutine matters to supervisor. 

 

 People Management 

 No line management, supervisory, or coordination responsibility. 

 

 Financial Responsibility 

 No budget responsibility. May handle small amounts of cash or petty cash in line with procedures (e.g., bus fares, vending), where applicable. 

 

 Safeguarding Responsibility 

 All Clanrye Group staff have a duty to recognise and report safeguarding concerns relating to children, young people, and vulnerable adults. 

The post holder must: 

  • Complete basic safeguarding awareness training during induction. 
  • Remain alert to signs of harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation. 
  • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately to line manager or the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

 The duties outlined above represent the core functions of this role but are not exhaustive. The post holder may be required to undertake other duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility as may reasonably be required to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Qualifications and Training 

  • Good standard of Education to include Maths and English at GCSE grade C or equivalent. (E) 
  • A level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area as per operational guidelines(E)  
  • A relevant Teaching Qualification in related discipline or a willingness to undertake the Certificate in Teaching (CiT) qualification. 
  • 1 year experience teaching vocational, PD and Employability. (D)  
  • Excellent IT skills – to present data using Microsoft packages or suitable alternative (E) 

 

Experience 

  • Proven experience of working with young people with a disability or health condition and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. (E) 
  • Highly competent in using ICT with excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite to include Sharepoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. (E)  
  • Experience of delivering qualifications to individuals. (E) 
  • Experience of teaching young people enabling them to identify their own goals and the ability to progress them on their good relations journey and find employment. (E) with a good track record of achieving high levels of retention and achievement in class (E)
