Social Supermarket

Our Social Supermarket is a new service which supports individuals and families facing financial hardship in the Newry area.

Each member pays a weekly membership fee starting from £6, and in return they will recieve:

  • Groceries to the value of £45 or more (see membership options below)
  • 12-week wraparound support, including money management workshops, eating on a budget and much more!

Our Social Supermarket will be based in The Quays, Newry and St Patrick’s Drive, Downpatrick with a weekly outreach provision and a range of wraparound support.

What’s is a social supermarket?

The Social Supermarket provides access to healthy, affordable food alongside wraparound support to individuals facing financial difficulties.

The key areas of the wraparound support are:

  • Food and Nutrition Support, to include community nutrition and cooking on a budget
  • Financial Support, to include benefits advice, debt counselling, and family budgeting
  • Health and Wellbeing, to include stress management
  • Training and Employability Skills

Membership Options

Our Social Supermarket provides three different membership options. These are to suit all households. Our team will be able to advise which membership best suits you and your household. 

The membership options are:

  • £6 per week individual membership fee will secure £45 per week food shop (for 12 weeks) and access to ‘wrap -around’ service
  • £8 per week double membership fee will secure £60 per week food shop (for 12 weeks) and access to ‘wrap -around’ service
  • £10 per week family membership membership fee will secure £75 per week food shop (for 12 weeks) and access to ‘wrap -around’ service
