Retail

OCN NI Level 2 Diploma in Retail Knowledge

  • Understanding How a Retail Business Maintains Health and Safety on its Premises
  • Understanding how Individuals and Teams Contribute to the Effectiveness of a Retail Business
  • Understanding the Retail Selling Process
  • Optional units available – Retail Knowledge & Trends, Product & Beauty Retail Skills, Customer Service & Payments, Retail Law & Security, Stock Control & Operations, Workplace & Projects, Sustainability in Retail.

NOCN Level 2 Certificate in Retail Skills

  • Mandatory unit – Work Effectively in a Retail Team

Horticulture 

Mandatory Units:

  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety
  • Maintain and develop personal performance
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Preparing ground for seeding and planting
  • Establishing plants or seeds in soil
  • Plant nomenclature, terminology and identification

Optional units can be chosen from a wide range of areas including Plant & Crop Production, Plant Health & Protection, Using Tools & Machinery, Landscaping & Construction, Propagation & Plant Displays, Environment & Conservation, Workplace & Customer Service, Specialist Horticulture Operations.

Warehousing & Storage 

Mandatory Units

  • Health, Safety and Security at Work
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations.

Optional Units (can be selected and agreed to suit employer requirements). Examples:

  • Place goods in storage in logistics operations.
  • Assemble orders for dispatch in logistics operations.
  • Maintain hygiene standards in handling and storing goods in logistics operations.
  • Moving and/or handling goods in logistics operations.
  • Keep stock at required levels in logistics operations.
  • Receive goods in logistics operations.
  • Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations.

Length of Programme

  • Up to 2 years depending on the ability of the apprentice. Maximum 4 years.

Eligibility 

  • New employees.
  • Existing employees transitioning into new roles that require training and development.
  • Age 16+.
  • Be contracted to work at least 21 hours per week including time off for day release.

Role of the Employer

  • Provide on-the-job training enabling apprentices to apply their learning in real workplace situations.
  • Nominate a workplace mentor/supervisor to guide and support the apprentice.
  • Work closely with Clanrye Group to align workplace experience with the training programme.
  • Create a supportive environment.
  • Ensure apprentices earns a wage.
  • Ensure apprentices receive the agreed time for off-the-job training.
