ApprenticeshipsNI 2025 Information 

Apps NI is build upon the basic general competences such as the essential skills of application of number, communications, and ICT; are industry-driven and designed to be relevant to the needs of each occupational sector. Aps NI will enable apprentices to acquire high level technical, administrative, and first-line management skills.

What’s involved?

The ApprenticeshipsNI 2025 programme aims to:

  • Provide apprentices with the knowledge, understanding, and competence to work at a high level in their chosen occupation. 
  • Offer quality training to fulfil the requirements of an appropriate apprenticeship framework. 
  • Contribute to raising the skills level of the NI workforce. 
  • Provide opportunities for progression to further and higher education and training. 
  • Support the direct involvement of employers in training key personnel. 

Qualification Areas 

Below are the four areas that we will provide qualifications in:

    • Retail
    • Customer Service 
    • Warehousing & Storage
    • Horticulture

Employment Requirements

  • Must be either:

    • Existing employee in a new role requiring significant learning.

    • New employee (in job ≤6 months) in a permanent paid role, with start date confirmed in Delivery Agreement.

  • Employer must:

    • Operate in Northern Ireland.

    • Be registered with HMRC.

    • Offer at least 21 hours/week (includes paid day release for training)

Core Components of the Framework 

  • Level 2 Qualification in any of the following – Retail/Customer Service, Warehousing & Storage or Horticulture
  • A qualification in Employee Rights and Responsibilities – participants will complete a Level 2 Award in Employee Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Essential Skills if required – to successfully complete the apprenticeship, participants must achieve the following essential skills qualifications as part of the apprenticeship or already hold a recognised equivalent: 
    • Application of number – level 1 
    • Communication – level 1 
    • Digital ICT Essential Skills at Entry Level 3, or if they already hold Entry Level 3
  • Attendance one day per week at centre (off-the-job training)With employer a minimum of 21 hours contracted per week (on-the-job training).
